Everyone’s favourite New York blondie Serena Van Der Woodsen brought us many iconic looks on the show Gossip Girl. Personally her summer wardrobe is one that stands out to me, encapsulating her endless summers in the Hamptons. Here I have collated a mini look book consisting of 10 outfits to inspire your seasonal closet and influence you towards recreating the life of an Upper East sider.

I really like this outfit that Serena has worn as I think that the pastel colour of the dress fits really well with the sparkly thread running through it. This is a trend which I hope is explored more during the summer as it adds another layer to seemingly boring outfits. I also like the asymmetrical aspect of this look which is accompanied by a flattering leg slit on the same side.
A piece that should already reside in your wardrobe and is even more pertinent during summer is a simple oversized white shirt. Here Serena wears it buttoned up with a mini skirt which I think looks really nice. This simplistic piece can also easily be dressed down by using it as a beach cover up or layering it unbuttoned on top of a vest.

I selected this outfit as I really like the burnt orange colour of this dress which I think would go alongside a summer tan perfectly. I also think that the satin material is perfect as it is so lightweight yet also looks really classy. Despite Gossip Girl being released over 10 years ago, the cut outs and line of the dress are also very up to date with modern trends.
This blue dress is such a beautiful look for later on in the day perhaps for dinner out on holiday. I am really enjoying the midi dresses that have variation in length with the front being shorter than the rest. I think it adds a lot of dimension to the piece and in a bold blue colour you can’t go wrong.

I couldn’t not include this iconic look which started off season 2 of Gossip Girl with a bang. You can’t go wrong in the summertime by wearing white, it is arguably the most flattering colour to wear and one that accentuates your fresh tan as well. I think that the draping and bandage-like element of this dress is so flattering and would be a perfect evening look.
This could be one of my favourite summer outfits worn by Serena and specifically the denim vest that she has layered. Denim is a classic and timeless element of fashion yet by juxtaposing its tomboy undertones with the feminine floral skirt you result in a dimensional outfit. I am really enjoying the returning trend of vest tops and think they could be interesting to see more of this summer.

This early Gossip Girl outfit is the picture of femininity and a gorgeous fashion statement. I really like the embroidered flowers at the top and bottom of the dress and the finer embroidered details that links the whole piece together. I hope that this embroidered look is one that rises up in modern fashion trends.
Just because it is summer you shouldn’t let yourself get fully swept away by simple wear. Instead don’t be scared to incorporate more vibrant colours that would ordinarily be deemed more wintery like this dress Serena is wearing. You can make it look more summery as she has done by complimenting it with beaded necklaces and beachy waved hair.

Here, Serena’s simplistic mini dress encapsulates the effortless summer aesthetic that could also double up as a nighty or beach cover up.
Also let there be an honorary mention to this Blair Waldorf dress that is so stunning. The summery pastel blue and satin material embodies femininity.
The final outfit that I chose to include in this look book is this casual yet sophisticated summer fit. Pinstripes are a classic statement and especially when paired with denim as Serena has done in this image. This look gives off nautical energy that is completely timeless and should be taken for inspiration.
