How You Should Style The Ultimate Summer Fabric

Distinguishing your summer wardrobe from your winter wardrobe can be challenging for some. One way you can achieve this is by incorporating fabrics and patterns that are specific to summer vibes. Gingham has always been the timeless go-to fabric for the warmer months, earning its status as the quintessential summer pattern. In this blog post, I will discuss five ways in which you can style this ultimate summer fabric of the season.

Gingham tops:

I believe that gingham looks best when paired with denim bottoms, whether it’s a skirt, shorts, or trousers. The simplicity of denim allows the gingham pattern to act as the focal point of the look, adding dimension. I particularly enjoy tops with puffy sleeves as they exude a summery and softly feminine vibe, making them a great addition to your wardrobe.

Gingham bikinis:

For that perfect romantic beach look, a gingham bikini is the way to go. You can style it with oversized shirts as beach cover-ups and pair it with chunky sandals and a cap. Additionally, accessorising plays a key role in styling a bikini. From earrings to belly chains, I believe that the gingham pattern would complement anything with pearls very well.

Gingham dress:

A dress in this fabric is a must-have for your capsule summer wardrobe. These inspo pictures exude the fashion worn by women in the 50s and 60s. When paired with chunky heels, as seen below, it provides a retro and timeless vibe that is currently very popular. Personally, I am really enjoying the dresses with a square neck and sleeveless design. This shape is so popular in tops, and I believe it has great potential for dresses as well

Gingham skirt:

For a more mature look, I would recommend opting for a long gingham skirt. We have seen a resurgence in the popularity of long skirts during the summertime in recent trends. Why not hop on this trend by incorporating gingham, just like Laura Harrier has done in the image below? Alternatively, you could choose a mini gingham skirt for a more preppy and innocent look. Personally, I particularly like the skirts with lace frills as I feel like they elevate the piece further

Gingham shorts/boxers:

For a less feminine option, you could invest in some gingham-patterned shorts and boxers. The trend of women wearing men’s boxer shorts has recently surged in the fashion world, and they are the perfect lightweight shorts for warm weather. Additionally, layering them underneath denim bottoms is another rising trend that you could take advantage of. Stay tuned for a blog post with more details on this topic
